Olympic Distance:    1.5k (0.93 mile) swim, 40k (24.8 mile) bike, 10k (6.2 mile) run

Individual:

All participants must be a USA Triathlon member or pay an additional $10 one day membership fee.

Travel Distance:
From Grand Rapids 30 minutes
From Holland 30 minutes
From Kalamazoo 40 minutes

Packet Pick-Up:
Your race packet can be picked up Friday, June 17 at in Grandville from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. or Saturday, June 18 at the race site between 6:30 a.m. and 7:45 a.m.      

Champion Chip Info:
Chips will be handed out the day of the race only.  Chip must be worn on your ankle. Teams get 1 chip and it must be passed from one member to the other. All chips must be turned in at the finish line or you will be charged $30.00 for lost chips.

Timing: Gault Race Management.

Course:
The swim takes place in beautiful Monterey Lake. Participants swim the triangular course in a counter clockwise direction. Guaranteed wave starts. The bike course takes you into the surrounding countryside utilizing very good paved roads. It’s a combination of rolling and flat terrain. Traffic will be well controlled with turns well marked. The run course is flat and takes you through scenic Sandy Pines Resort. (Click here to see: Course Maps)

Rules:
This event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon; therefore all their rules apply including bike helmets must be worn, no bike drafting and swim caps (provided) must be worn. USA Triathlon Rules       Don't get caught! Check the USAT Most Common Rule Violations.

Johan's was the MidEast 2010 Special Qualifier :
The MidEast Special Qualifier qualifies the top 33% per age group for the USAT Age Group National Championship in Tuscaloosa, AL on September 25, 2010. For more information on the Age Group National Championship visit www.usatnationalevents.org.

Johan's is part of MERCRS: : 
This year, Johan’s will again  be a part of the USAT Mid East Region Club Race Series (MERCRS). If you’re a member of a USAT registered triathlon club, your club will be part of this race series. The mideast region includes Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio and Kentucky. For more information on the USAT MidEast Region and the MERCRS, check out the website for MERCRS

Shirts: Each participant will receive a custom designed T-shirt.

Refreshments: There will be a variety of foods and beverages at the finish line.

Benefit: All proceeds from this event are going to Hospice of Michigan and the Van Andel Institute's Hope on the Hill Foundation.

Aid Stations: There will be aid stations in the transition area, and 4 on the run.

Age Groups:
USAT has adopted an Age Up Policy.   USAT Age Up Policy
Men & Women: 14-16, 17-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 & over.

Awards: Awards ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Age group awards will go 3 - 5 deep depending on the number of participants in each age group.
