Race Week Edition
Race Day is Here!
Race day is this Saturday, June 19.
Current water temperature at Lake Monterey is in the low seventies. http://www.intellicast.com/Local/Weather.aspx?location=USMI0403Wetsuits will likely be allowed but if we get
a lot of hot weather this week, this may change things. Hydrate well.
Registration Scheduled to Close
Online registration through Active.com will close Wednesday, June 16 at
11:59 p.m. If we haven’t filled to
capacity for this year, registration will be available at Strider’s on Friday
during regular store hours.
Unfortunately, tee shirts cannot be guaranteed to participants who plan
on registering these last few days.
There will be No Race Day
Registration.
Packet Pick-Up
Packet pick-up is scheduled for Friday, June 18 at Striders during
regular store hours. Striders is located
at 4045 Chicago Drive in Grandville, Michigan.
Packet pick-up will also be held Saturday, June 19 at the race site
starting at 6:00 a.m. If you’re a
current USAT member, you need to bring your current USAT membership card with a
valid photo I.D. to packet pick-up. If
you don’t have your USAT membership card, you can print off proof of your current membership from the USAT Website.
ALL athletes are required to show photo
ID regardless of USAT membership. NO ID, NO RACE, NO EXCEPTIONS. Every single participant must have a photo
ID, this includes all relay participants. Youth athletes without an ID must be
accompanied by a parent/guardian with a photo ID. Annual members are required to bring their
membership card every time they compete in a USAT sanctioned event.
Where’s the Race Site?
Johan’s TriFest is held on the east side Sandy Pines Resort in Hopkins,
Michigan. The race site address is: 3631 26th Street, Dorr, Michigan,
49323-9538. If you use a different online map and the
Dorr address doesn’t work, try Hopkins, Michigan instead.
Construction in Downtown Dorr.
If you’re traveling to the race site from the north, be aware that a
reconstruction project in downtown Dorr might delay you in your travel time.
This will affect all travelers who are coming in from Grand Rapids that
typically use Exit 68 off from US-131.
It will be easier to use the Wayland/135th Ave. Exit 64 and
approach the race site from the south. Still determined to travel this
way? Here’s the detour.
Johan’s TriFest 2010 USAT
MidEast Special Qualifier
Johan’s TriFest has been selected as the USAT Special Qualifier. This year the top 33% age group finishers
will qualify for the USAT Age Group National Championship in Tuscaloosa,
Alabama on September 25, 2010. For more
information about Age Group Nationals visit http://www.usatriathlon.org/.
Course Maps available on the
Website
Maps of the transition area, swim, bike, and run
course are available for viewing on Johan’s TriFest website.
Review USAT Rules
Johan’s TriFest is once again sanctioned by USAT. They’ve got a list of competitive rules that will be followed throughout the
event. They also have a listing of most common violated rules.
Racking Your Bike Saturday
Morning
Check in and get body marked before entering
the transition area on Saturday morning.
For security reasons, only marked athletes will be allowed in transition
before, during, and after the event.
Also, bike racks are designed to accommodate 7 bikes per rack. This is accomplished when bikes are racked in
an alternating pattern on the rack. If
one bike is on the right side of the rack, the next bike should be racked on
the left side of the rack. This pattern
allows for maximum transition spaces.
Volunteers ALWAYS Appreciated
Do you have a friend or
relative that does not want to compete in Johan’s TriFest, but would love to
participate somehow? Volunteer
registration still has opportunities available. All volunteers will
receive an exclusive volunteer t-shirt and tons of thanks. If
you know someone that would like to donate some of their time volunteering, we
would appreciate the help. Contact us
through the volunteer link on the website.
